Key Responsibilities
- Safety Program Management
- Oversee, maintain, and continuously improve Staley Electric’s safety policies, procedures, and field expectations.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and observations.
- Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and follow through to ensure resolution.
- Partner with project managers, foremen, and field leadership to promote safe work practices.
- Lead incident investigations and help determine root causes, corrective actions, and prevention strategies.
- Monitor and report safety performance metrics, trends, and areas needing improvement.
- Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate safety records, training documentation, inspection reports, incident reports, and compliance files.
- Support prequalification requirements, customer safety documentation, and project-specific safety plans.
- Prepare and submit required safety reports to leadership, customers, or regulatory agencies as needed.
- Assist with OSHA inspections, customer audits, insurance reviews, and internal compliance reviews.
- Safety Training
- Develop, schedule, coordinate, and deliver safety training for employees at all levels.
- Training areas may include OSHA standards, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, fall protection, ladder safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, equipment operation, fleet safety, tool safety, first aid/CPR, and jobsite hazard awareness.
- Conduct new-hire safety orientation and support onboarding for field employees.
- Track employee certifications and ensure renewals are completed on time.
- Promote practical, field-relevant training that improves safe behavior and jobsite awareness.
- Tool and Equipment Management
- Oversee company tool and equipment safety processes, including inspection, accountability, condition tracking, and proper use.
- Work with field leaders to ensure tools and equipment are maintained, inspected, and removed from service when unsafe or damaged.
- Support organization and documentation of company-owned tools, safety equipment, PPE, and related inventory.
- Help develop standards for tool checkout, return, replacement, repair, and loss prevention.
- Fleet Management and Driver Safety
- Oversee fleet safety practices, vehicle inspections, driver expectations, and company vehicle compliance.
- Monitor vehicle inspection reports, driver behavior, maintenance needs, and safety concerns.
- Help manage driver qualification files, motor vehicle record checks, insurance requirements, and related documentation.
- Cook up with leadership and vendors on vehicle maintenance, repairs, safety equipment, and compliance items.
- Lead fleet safety training and reinforce expectations for responsible vehicle use.
- Leadership and Communication
- Serve as a resource and coach for field employees, foremen, project managers, and leadership.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently.
- Build relationships in the field that encourage reporting, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Staley Electric professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, and vendors.
- Help lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, stand-downs, and company-wide safety initiatives.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of safety experience, preferably in construction, electrical, industrial, or commercial contracting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety requirements.
- Experience with electrical safety and NFPA 70E preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain within a defined period. OSHA 500 a plus.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar safety certification is a plus.
- Experience managing safety documentation, incident reports, training records, audits, and compliance processes.
- Ability to conduct effective training for field and office personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable using technology for reporting, tracking, inspections, documentation, and communication.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
