About the role

The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist III position at SEKISUI Aerospace, Renton involves developing, executing, and improving environmental, health, and safety programs to manage risk and comply with regulations. Key responsibilities include leading environmental, health, and safety activities, communicating with various stakeholders, inspecting and auditing manufacturing areas, facilitating training, and preparing regulatory reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes, and continuously improves environmental, health, and safety programs to manage risk and comply with regulations.
  • Leads environmental, health, and safety activities including training, inspections, audits, sampling, and reporting.
  • Communicates with employees, contractors, leadership, and external agencies to convey status and drive improvements.
  • Researches and interprets regulations/requirements and evaluates site processes for compliance.
  • Develops, improves, and implements processes as needed to meet regulatory requirements and improve safety/environmental performance.
  • Facilitates regular touch-points with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure concerns are addressed, processes are followed, and requirements are met.
  • Inspects and audits manufacturing areas, offices, and warehouses.
  • Facilitates or performs sampling activities as required to ensure safety and prevent pollution.
  • Establishes and maintains accurate EHS records.
  • Performs routine and non-routine data evaluation for EHS reports and metrics.
  • Develops and administers EHS-specific training for employees.
  • Prepares and submits regulatory reports.
  • Evaluates new materials and processes for EHS risks and recommends/develops controls.
  • Responds to incidents and coordinates emergency response and reporting.
  • Conducts accident investigations and root cause analysis for EHS incidents.
  • Schedules and oversees EHS contractors while they perform work projects.
  • Develops and tracks safety and sustainability key performance indicators and leads/evaluates improvement.

Requirements

  • Advanced Knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA).
  • Experience with safety and environmental management systems (ISO 14001, 45001).
  • 5+ years’ experience with state and federal environmental reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental science principles (air pollution, stormwater pollution, hazardous Waste management, wastewater management).
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial health and safety principles (ergonomics, machine guarding, fall protection, PPE).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make decisions which will impact human health and the environment.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety or environmental-related field from an accredited 4-year university (or equivalent education/experience).
  • 9+ years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with sustainability/environmental governance programs.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing/composite manufacturing.
  • Experience developing training programs and materials.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA).
