About the role
The Safety and Environmental Specialist works closely with the EHS team to implement and coordinate and further the safety, health, and environmental program of all of Carter Machinery’s locations and departments.
Responsibilities
- Implement and coordinate the safety, health, and environmental program of all of Carter Machinery’s locations and departments.
- Develop safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations.
- Assist the EHS Team in addressing specific reporting and recordkeeping of regulatory agencies.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Lead others in achieving environmental, health, and safety program excellence on a company level.

Requirements
- Intermediate to advanced skills in computer-based technology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Able to learn environmental, health, and safety concepts and provide expertise to branches.
- Able to quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions.
- Able to assist the EHS Team in addressing specific reporting and recordkeeping of regulatory agencies.
- Able to work extra hours, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet business demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Able to sit and talk or hear, frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to promote a positive customer experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years' occupation safety and health experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related field, preferred.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to work extra hours, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet business demands.
- Excellent driving record.
- Extensive travel within Carter Machinery’s geographical footprint, required.

Starting Compensation Range: $79,000 - $101,000 per year
