Safety Engineer

About the role

This position provides leadership and oversight for all domestic environmental, health, and safety functions across locations, working in close partnership with site management at each location. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operations by aligning site execution with corporate standards and drives continuous improvement in environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and drive company-wide EHS strategies that support operational, regulatory compliance, and a strong culture of safety across multiple locations
• Partner closely with site leadership to establish clear standards, accountability, and consistent execution of EHS programs, including compliance initiatives, industrial hygiene, contractor safety, emergency response, environmental programs, and risk reduction efforts
• Lead audits and inspections
• Investigate incidents and near-misses
• Drive root cause and corrective actions
• Manage regulatory agency interactions
• Promote employee engagement through proactive safety training and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, industrial management, or a related field
• 7+ years’ experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment, including multi-site leadership
• Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
• Experience supporting agency inspections and implementing corrective actions

Qualifications

• Union environment experience a plus
