Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the company's safety and health program across multiple commercial construction projects.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Develop and maintain site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other required safety documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and applicable safety standards.
- Conduct employee orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training for field personnel and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and workplace injuries, documenting findings and recommending corrective measures.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and incident logs using Procore and other company-approved systems.
- Participate in project meetings and provide guidance on safety-related matters.
- Track and report safety performance metrics and trends to management.
- Coordinate regulatory inspections and support internal and external safety audits.
- Assist project teams in planning and mitigating risks associated with high-hazard activities, including fall protection, excavations, crane operations, and confined space work.
- Travel to project sites as necessary to support field operations and safety compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Sciences or a related field from an accredited university required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Safety Engineer or in a related safety-focused role within the commercial construction industry
- Proficiency with Procore construction management software preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety practices
- Experience conducting jobsite inspections, incident investigations, and safety training
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as required
- CPR/First Aid certification and CHST, ASP, or CSP certifications are preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety practices
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and implement corrective actions
- Experience with safety inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of high-risk activities including fall protection, excavation, confined space, and crane operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Procore for safety documentation and reporting
- Strong communication skills for training and working with field teams and subcontractors
- Ability to interpret construction documents and apply safety requirements in the field
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments
