Safety Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Safety Engineer to join our Safety team on our project in Virginia. This is a full-time, in person position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project-level safety coordination and serve as the primary office-side safety contact
• Review and hold subcontractors accountable for safety deliverables, including safety plans, JHAs, and crane plans
• Lead safety meetings, including kickoffs, safety committee meetings, and worker feedback sessions
• Coverage of onsite safety training and safety incentive initiatives
• Conduct accident investigations and support ELTs
• Track safety metrics, observations, incidents, and lessons learned
• Review crane plans and support engineered lift planning
• Support campus-wide safety events
• Provide overall office support to Holder field safety professionals

Qualifications

• Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management/EHS or a related field OR 3+ years of equivalent safety experience
• Knowledge of construction industry practices, codes, and safety standards
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• PREFERRED:
• Experience with a general contractor
• Professional safety certifications (e.g., GSP, CHST, CSP)
• Experience leading safety meetings and investigations
