Responsibilities
- Provide authoritative technical expertise in safety engineering, reviewing fire and related life safety issues in healthcare facilities
- Conduct on-site life safety and emergency preparedness inspections and surveys of Medicare providers and suppliers
- Recommend termination of healthcare providers from CMS programs when safety practices don’t meet federal standards, and develop termination documentation
- Apply extensive safety engineering theory and principles to obtain compliance with federal regulations
- Advise the SOG director and CMS managers on LSC interpretation, including recommendations on waiver requests
Qualifications
- Engineering degree (ABET-accredited or qualifying coursework), OR qualifying combination of education and experience with PE/EIT registration or FE exam
- Experience conducting fire and life safety inspections of healthcare facilities (Life Safety Code, Health Care Facilities Code, or equivalent)
- Experience applying safety engineering principles to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Experience providing technical guidance on fire/life safety standards, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance

Pay
Pay range and compensation package: Salary: $90,925 - $118,204/year base (varies by location; see locality rates)
