About the role
Mckee Utility Contractors is now hiring a Safety Director to support the Infrastructure Market Sector service line. The Safety Director will develop, communicate, assess, and improve safety strategies, maintain communication with leadership, and represent the service line to meet customer safety needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a safety strategy of continuous improvement to minimize risk.
- Drive consistency in the safety program across all projects.
- Prepare and present monthly service line safety performance reports.
- Evaluate project safety programs and issue recommendations.
- Ensure full utilization of donesafe and Power BI for incident and observation management.
- Support project safety professionals with injury case management.
- Attend project planning events to provide safety support.
- Assure projects have qualified safety staffing.
- Implement and maintain a front-line supervisor safety leadership training program.
- Conduct documented project inspections and close-out meetings.
- Ensure compliance with corporate safety policies and regulations.
- Perform and communicate regular leading indicators assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or a safety-related field from an accredited university (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience (required).
- Minimum of 20 years of construction safety experience if no degree (required).
- OSHA 500 certification (required).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Develop reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Working knowledge of government regulations, safety compliance, and industrial hygiene.
- Strong business acumen.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strategic thinking abilities.
- Strong understanding of organizational behavior.
- Ability to influence where direct reporting lines do not exist.
- Team player and self-starter.
- Interpersonal skills a must.
