About the role

The Safety Director will serve as the liaison between Air Comfort/Applied Controls and their employees and clients. A core priority is addressing employees and customers' safety needs and concerns as quickly and effectively as possible to develop and maintain strong relationships and safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues and concerns.
  • Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Train employees on safety protocols and best practices.
  • Manage incident reporting and follow-up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Update third-party online safety portals such as Avetta and ISN.
  • Prepare and maintain OSHA logs and training logs.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure proper coverage for safety incidents.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, engineering, or a related field is often preferred. An advanced degree (such as a master's in safety management) is advantageous.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30, Train The Trainer, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), and First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Experience: At least ten years of experience in safety roles, preferably in the construction sector. Field experience in various environments with an emphasis in the construction vertical market. Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and developing safety programs.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards is crucial.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety policies and training.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and incidents to improve safety practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to identify hazards and implement effective solutions.
  • Leadership and Training Ability: Experience in leading safety teams and training employees on safety protocols.
  • Industry-Specific Knowledge: Knowledge of safety practices specific to the construction industry will be highly beneficial.
