SAFETY COORDINATOR IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY | FULL-TIME DAY SHIFT (25407)

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor safety management programs and initiatives for New Bridge Medical Center facilities across a wide geographic area.
  • Administer the day-to-day operations of an effective Respirator Program, including:
    • N95 fit testing program in accordance with CFR 1910.134, ensuring all employees complete the required Respirator Online training program.
    • Communicate to managers which employees need fit testing and maintain a formal list of all employees who have or require fit testing.
    • Conduct qualitative fit testing and perform both quantitative and qualitative fit testing where required.
    • Load all medical clearances into employees' training records.
    • Coordinate with Human Resources to fit test new hires before their first day of orientation or as soon as possible.
  • Lead an effective Ergonomic Program, including:
    • Develop an embedded train-the-trainer program.
    • Train staff on proper patient transfer/repositioning.
    • Maintain inventories of ergonomic equipment.
    • Perform routine ergonomic evaluations of employees, develop reports with recommendations for managers' review/approval.
    • Research and recommend BNBMC-approved ergonomic equipment.
    • Schedule and administer bimonthly ergonomic safe patient handling meetings.
    • Track and trend ergonomic safety injuries and report to management, including EOC meetings.
  • Lead BNBMC into becoming a leader in sustainability, including:
    • Complete annual sustainability applications to NJDEP and various organizations to become members and receive sustainability awards.
    • Implement specific tasks with departments to develop budgets and sustainability goals.
    • Develop and implement sustainability training and communications throughout the organization, including organizing departmental "Champions" for recycling initiatives.
  • Work with inspectors from various environmental agencies (e.g., County, DOH, EPA, DOT, OSHA, CMS, and The Joint Commission).
  • Conduct investigations regarding all employee incidents, analyze findings, and make recommendations for corrective action while keeping all records current.
  • Conduct inspections and maintain an inventory of ergonomic equipment for employees to trial (e.g., ergonomic chairs, headphones).
  • Assist the Safety/Security Director as needed.
  • Respond to fires and emergencies; carry a cellphone and be on call 24 hours for emergencies.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all hospital service lines and departments.
  • Participate in working groups and committees.
  • Maintain relevant documentation, including up-to-date plans, meeting agendas, rosters, and minutes to ensure accreditation survey readiness.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including responsibilities outlined in the Safety/Security Director’s job description.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of progressively more responsible related work experience in healthcare-based Environment of Care and Emergency Management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Forms).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit timely decision-making and adaptive leadership under stressful conditions.
  • Previous experience in ergonomic evaluations and/or a degree in a related field preferred.
  • Available 24 hours/7 days a week to respond to fire alarms.
  • Fire/sprinkler experience is a plus or active membership in a fire department.
  • Ambition to learn, strong motivation, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.

Pay

$40,000–$50,000/year
