Position Summary
We are a global leader in food & beverage ingredients. The SHS Coordinator II, under the direction of the Operations Director, promotes, coordinates, and maintains the Safety, Health and Sustainability (SHS) of the plant and buying point locations to ensure a safe and accident-free workplace as well as the preservation of the environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Work with Senior and Local Leadership as well as all levels of the facility to promote, develop, and maintain a productive Safety Culture with Zero Harm as its aim.
- Conduct plant inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions in accordance with OSHA regulations and ofi’s standards and guidance.
- Issue work orders and follow-up to correct conditions.
- Perform post-accident investigations to identify cause, exposure, providing effective feedback.
- Develop and present safety training, skill development, tail-gate meetings in accordance with OSHA general industry safety and Olam’s standards and guidance.
- Participate in emergency response activities including planning, demonstrations, and improvements.
- Ensure Hazard Communication and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) program oversight, inspections, and follow-up in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Cook up and participate in SHS Committee and other related Committee activities.
- Maintain accident reports required by regulatory agencies and work with fellow SHS members to reduce injuries and lost work time.
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to ensure and maintain environmental compliance and preservation of the locations.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
- OSHA 10/30 General Industry Training is required.
- Minimum two years’ experience with safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to travel to the company buying points and work overnight up to 10% is required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated skills in training, development and implementation of health and SHS programs are required.
- Applied knowledge and working understanding of OSHA, regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, SHS training, hazard reviews, and job SHS analysis are required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint is required.
- Resilience, persistence, and optimism are required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to train on the use of diagnostic equipment/tools.
- Ability to write in English routine maintenance reports or correspondence.
Note
This role is performed on site at a facility that regularly processes peanuts. Employees in this position will routinely work in areas where peanuts and related allergens are present and may be exposed by contact or in the air.
