Responsibilities
- Recognize and participate in the oversight of established facility safety operating procedures, facility safety instructions, and regulatory safety standards.
- Aid in incident investigations and prepare incident reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Plan and deliver training programs to encourage employees to adopt work practices that aim for zero injuries.
- Establish, develop, and maintain teamwork and collaboration with all organizational-level team members to ensure safety/health programs and procedures are being practiced, supported, and reinforced.
- Conduct inspections of the organization’s facilities/equipment to identify and address existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective measures.
- Participate in and lead hazard identification and assessment activities.
- Train, coach, and assess hazard prevention & control methods and tools.
- Participate and lead internal Key Concepts self-assessment program.
- Participate in internal EHS regulatory audits.
- Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and disseminate information across all shifts and to the management team.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
- Conduct EHS health checks to evaluate the performance of various EHS tools.
- Utilize the behavior-based safety approach to observe, analyze, and modify employee behaviors to prevent incidents and improve overall safety performance.
- Assist management in developing energy control procedures and inspecting energy control procedures.
- Attend daily pre-shift meetings and represent the EHS pillar during meetings.
- Maintain and calibrate industrial hygiene equipment.
- Assist Team Leaders and Management in identifying heat stress by participating in walk downs, heat stress monitoring, hazard analysis, Heat Stress equipment training, and providing answers to Heat Stress-related questions.
- Assist management with Emergency Preparedness drills.
- Assist management in managing the Safety Log.
- Recommend measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Effectively collaborate, recruit, and build working relationships with other team members at all levels to improve the value of the plant Health and Safety programs.
- Actively participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
- Must complete 24-hour Hazardous Materials Technician course and stay current on certification through annual training.
- Successful completion of confined space entrant and attendant training, confined space entry supervisor training, and confined space Train the Trainer.
- Obtain Confined Space Rescue Team Leader certification through company purchased, 3rd party training.
- Assist Incident Commander during emergency response operations and training.
- Assist in supporting the Continuous Skills Department with training.
- Obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification through onsite training.
- Complete necessary training to become a Fall Protection: Competent Person.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, humidity, oils, smells, and allergens.
- Exposure to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation.
- May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
- Climb to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.

The pay rate is approximately $30.29 per hour, though actual compensation may vary based on location, job role/level, job status, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
