Safety Coordinator

About the role

Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, programs, standards, and design criteria on the assigned construction projects
Communicate the plans and expectations to all Rockford affected team members including trade contractors
Perform comprehensive onsite safety assessments of the projects
Constantly monitor work operations for assuring safety compliance as required
Participate in pre-construction and handoff meetings as required
Participate in regularly scheduled construction and management meetings including presentation of safety training topics
Assist in the maintenance of safety files and records
Function as a liaison and maintain relationships outside of the Company that supports and promotes the company safety, health, and risk management programs (Subcontractors, Clients, MIOSHA, MIOSHA CET, Other)
Enforce safety policies and recommend appropriate corrective actions to address violations and ensure compliance
Ensure Rockford's policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently
Provide guidance and direction to trades a in-regards to safety and risk management
Communicate and reinforce Rockford's vision, values and goals in a positive and professional manner
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety/health or equivalent training or a minimum 3 year's construction safety experience
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed
• CPR/First Aid certification required
• The unique ability to de-escalate difficult conversations. Willingness to take de-escalation training
• OSHA 30 Hour training certificate required
• Willingness to become certified in other areas to perform the role
• Reliable transportation to travel
