Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain currency of the safety programs by monitoring legislative actions, evaluating new requirements and developing new programs.
- Audit plant safety programs for compliance and training effectiveness.
- Report all inspections/inquiries to GM/RSM.
- Monitor accident reports and analysis for identification of trends.
- Investigate accidents/incidents.
- Maintain accident files.
- Trains plant and transportation personnel in required OSHA programs (Orientation, Monthly OSHA, etc.).
- Initiate change in plant processes and procedures to implement a safe work environment.
- Completion of OSHA 511 or OSHA 30 within one year of employment.
- Respond to communications such as calls, emails and text messages at all times including nights and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as business needs arise.
- Highly organized; superior time management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
- Self-motivated; self-starter.
- Work well with all levels of the corporation.
- Effective trainer.
- Ability to evaluate new regulations and change programs to ensure continued compliance.
- Ability to travel 5% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- One or two years of progressive safety experience.
- Professional experience or certification as a trainer preferred.
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
