About the role
The Safety Attendant provides one-on-one observation of selected patients for the purpose of identifying behaviors which are potentially hazardous to self or others in accordance with facility policies and procedures; reports needs and concerns to licensed nurse.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred.
- Licensure: N/A
- Additional Skills/Requirements: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing as applicable; knowledge of guidelines for infection control, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics; completion of a de-escalation class within 90 days of hire.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Ability to work with elderly patients or act as a companion.
Competencies
- Patient Care: Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse. Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment. Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
- Nursing Expertise: Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures. Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques. Adheres to safety measures.

Pay
The base compensation range for this role is $16.00 - $20.05 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
