Safety and Security Assistant (Readvertisement)

Major Duties/Essential Functions

• Patrols halls and school grounds to monitor and address student behavior.
• Enforces regulations regarding conduct, speed limits, and parking regulations.
• Makes police and court contacts as necessary.
• Arranges transport for students during medical emergencies.
• Makes parking permits, stickers, tickets, and as necessary, towing letters.
• Makes arrangements for students from other schools to eliminate disturbances and enforce trespassing regulations.
• Participates in maintaining discipline at student activities.
• Proctors tests.
• Acts as a liaison between students and teachers.
• Keeps reports on students' activities, behavior, and attendance.
• Advises administrators of repeat offenders.
• Maintains student control, as required.
• May provide other community and county resource information.
• May have responsibility for the issuance of lockers to students.
• May have responsibility for students assigned to an alternative instruction class to include ensuring that students have prearranged assignments or distributing assignments prepared by classroom teachers and keeping students schoolwork task-oriented.
• Maintains student control, as required.
• May have responsibility for monitoring during- and after-school, evening, and/or weekend activities on an assigned flexible schedule.
• Acts independently with onsite oversight.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

• This job operates in a school environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
• This job requires sufficient strength, mobility, and agility to patrol school hallways and grounds, to deter and/or restrain students to prevent injury in cases of unruly behavior.
