Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Patrols halls and school grounds to monitor and address student behavior.
- Enforces regulations regarding conduct, speed limits, and parking regulations.
- Makes police and court contacts as necessary.
- Arranges transport for students during medical emergencies.
- Makes parking permits, stickers, tickets, and as necessary, towing letters.
- Makes arrangements for students from other schools to eliminate disturbances and enforce trespassing regulations.
- Participates in maintaining discipline at student activities.
- Proctors tests.
- Acts as a liaison between students and teachers.
- Keeps reports on students' activities, behavior, and attendance.
- Advises administrators of repeat offenders.
- Maintains student control, as required.
- Provides other community and county resource information.
- Issues lockers to students.
- Ensures students have prearranged assignments or distributes assignments prepared by classroom teachers and keeps students schoolwork task-oriented.
- Maintains control during- and after- school, evening, and/or weekend activities on an assigned flexible schedule.
- Acts independently with onsite oversight.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate, supplemented by specialized safety or security environment training.
- Some experience in security, safety, or protective services settings.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Must successfully complete compulsory certification training approved by the Virginia Center for School Safety within sixty (60) days of hire and renew certification annually.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
