Safety and Security Analyst

About the role

The Department of Industrial Relations’ (DIR) Safety and Security team is seeking a Safety and Security Analyst to lead and facilitate the Department's Emergency Preparedness and Security efforts for over 3,000 employees across 40+ office locations statewide. This role involves coordinating with local staff, management, property managers, and partners in law enforcement, the Office of Emergency Services, CalFire, and other local agencies to ensure workplace safety and security.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate emergency preparedness drills, exercises, evacuations, and develop, implement, and monitor office emergency preparedness policies and security procedures.
• Coordinate with DIR and building staff during emergencies or natural disasters, working with internal and external subject matter experts to maximize safety and security of people and property.
• Independently manage the development and annual submission of the Department’s Business Continuity Plan, Business Impact Analysis, and Business Continuity Checklist to the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).
• Lead the development, training, and testing of the roles and responsibilities outlined in the Business Continuity Plan.
• Conduct investigations and provide reports for workplace health and safety incidents, accidents, and exposures.
• Serve as the Department-wide point-of-contact for health and safety issues.
• Manage DIR's access badge systems in all state-owned and privately leased locations, including installation, removal, maintenance, and modification of access badge systems, card readers, and related equipment.

Working Conditions

• Position is located at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
• 40-hour workweek in an office setting within an air-conditioned, high-rise building with elevator access.
• Hybrid telework schedule available in accordance with DIR’s telework policy.
• Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods while using a computer and telephone, and interact with coworkers and stakeholders.
