Safety and Health Manager

In 1908, the plant relocated to North Central San Antonio, and in 1979, it was renamed Alamo Cement Company. Responsibilities

• Conduct plant safety, health, record-keeping, and housekeeping audits at predetermined intervals; summarize report results for the Plant Manager and follow up on remediation as needed.
• Administer the Company’s Safety & Health Program and other related programs in a timely and proactive manner.
• Attend plant meetings as required and participate in job planning to implement necessary safety factors.
• Conduct post-accident investigations with department managers or supervisors to identify root causes and recommend measures to eliminate or reduce exposure risks.
• Review all newly enacted and proposed regulations; summarize potential impacts to the plant and propose compliance programs.
• Develop, administer, and distribute monthly and year-end summary safety reports with year-to-date comparisons to measure plant performance.
• Participate in regulatory inspections (MSHA) and review all citations; develop arguments for contesting citations when necessary.
• Administer all training programs conducted at the plant and off-site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or Health.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the safety field, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Strong communication and language skills.
• Good organization, human relations, and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of safety and health codes and regulations (MSHA and OSHA).
• Ability to build consensus, particularly in analyzing and solving problems related to employee safety and health.
• Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation laws.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
