SafeCare® Parent Educator (Bilingual English & Spanish)

Job Summary

SafeCare® is an evidence-based, voluntary, free in-home parent education program serving caregivers of children 0 to 5 in Tulsa County. The program aims to ensure a nurturing, safe, and healthy home environment through training, support, and research.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide home visitation services aligned with the SafeCare® curriculum and standards, focusing on child development, positive parenting, safety/health awareness, healthy relationships, and parent-child interaction activities.
  • Engage and build relationships with client families from a trauma-informed, strength-based perspective, conducting weekly home visits and providing ongoing support.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and stakeholders, representing PCCT at monthly Emergency Infant Services (EIS) meetings.
  • Manage a caseload of 12 families, complete required documentation within agency and COA standards, and monitor progress on family goals.
  • Administer assessments, plan interventions, and document services provided, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Make appropriate referrals and follow-up to ensure successful outcomes, documenting interactions and progress.
  • Work independently, manage time effectively, attend scheduled meetings and trainings, and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in required SafeCare® trainings and shadowing, maintaining fidelity and addressing challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SafeCare® Program Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Social Work, Human Relations, Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in both Spanish and English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent active listening and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to engage in reflective conversations and perspective-taking.
  • Valid state driver’s license, current car insurance, and reliable transportation for home visits and community outreach.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and sit for extended periods during home visits.
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations, including those with histories of trauma.

Prior Experience

  • Two years work experience with at-risk families.
  • Oklahoma Association of Infant Mental Health (OKAIMH) endorsement.
  • Prior experience working with pregnant and parenting caregivers, infants, children, and their families.
  • Home visitation experience and knowledge of community resources.

Schedule

The typical work schedule for SafeCare® Parent Educators is a full-time, exempt 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Availability to extend services to 6:00 PM on at least one night a week is required to meet client needs.
