Safe Line APSS (Adult Protective Service Specialist)

About the role

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking two (2) experienced, self-directed Adult Protective Service Specialist Screeners for the SAFEline abuse hotline. These positions require a high level of autonomy and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct full-time screening of adult abuse complaints through the SAFEline hotline.
• Triage all calls, provide referrals, make screening determinations and assign investigations to local offices.
• Apply Adult Protective Services Oregon Administrative Rules, Policies, Statutes and best practices to determine screening outcome.
• Captures all intake information in the Centralized Abuse Management (CAM) system.
• Utilizes Oregon Access, e-courts, ONE, and other related programs to obtain preliminary information.
• Makes referrals to relevant agencies, supports and services.
• Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings, trainings, and serves as an active team member in team-building activities.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences AND two years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
• Three years professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
• An associate degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences AND four years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
• Eighteen (18) months professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the Associate.
• Minimum 1 year of Adult Protective Service Specialist screening experience (APD or AAA).
• Strong working knowledge and application of Oregon Adult Protective Services statutes, rules, policies and best practices.
• Strong working knowledge of the Centralized Abuse Management System, including direct experience entering screenings into CAM.
• Demonstrated, professional communication skills, oral and written.
• Collaborative approach to problem solving.
• Ability to work effectively with a high level of independence.

Essential Attributes
