SACC Site Director/Instructional Assistant

About the Role

The School Age Child Care (SACC) Site Director/Instructional Assistant plays a key role in providing a safe, educationally enriched, quality care program for children attending Washington County Schools. This position involves creating an enriching learning environment and attending to the basic needs of children in care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain children's safety and provide a clean, secure environment.
• Manage site paperwork, including time sheets and parent accounts.
• Ensure compliance with state rules and regulations for child care centers in Tennessee.
• Supervise and guide children through scheduled activities.
• Implement state rules and regulations effectively.
• Communicate positively and effectively with parents and children.
• Report suspected child abuse and equipment hazards or safety concerns.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
• Follow proper safety drill procedures, including evacuation and safe areas within the facility.
• Maintain policies and procedures of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Director.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent (or 4 years of working experience with youth, or a degree).
• Background check required every 5 years.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED training (provided upon clearance for employment).
• Physical examination required every 3 years.
• Complete 18 hours of state-approved professional development training each year (guidance provided).

• Manual dexterity for skillful hand movements.
• Form perception to visually compare and discriminate shapes and shading.
• Color discrimination to recognize differences in colors or shades.
