RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Senior Medical Director of Occupational Medicine – Ocean County Hub (Lakewood, NJ)!

This high-impact leadership opportunity places you at the helm of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team serving RWJBarnabas Health employees and over 500 regional employer partners. We deliver best-in-class occupational medicine services, including injury care, surveillance, pre-employment physicals, DOT exams, and wellness programs – all grounded in regulatory excellence and patient-centered outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Influence the strategic direction of a high-volume, high-impact Occupational Health service line across a major healthcare hub.
• Provide evidence-based care, supervise multidisciplinary clinical teams, and oversee MRO, IME, DOT, and surveillance programs.
• Be part of an innovative team in a system known for clinical excellence, with direct access to executive-level collaboration and resources.
• Lead a team of occupational medicine providers, ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety.
• Support the development and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of occupational health services.
• Oversee the management of occupational health claims and ensure compliance with insurance regulations.
• Develop and implement wellness programs to improve employee health and productivity.
• Conduct regular audits and evaluations of occupational health services to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Requirements

• Board Certified in Occupational Medicine (or Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine with Occupational Medicine experience)
• MRO, DOT, and IME certification highly preferred – support will be provided to achieve within designated time frame if not already held
• Leadership experience in an occupational health or employee health setting
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, CDC, DOT, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation guidelines
• NJ medical license or eligibility

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $215,000 to 340,000 per year.
