About the role

The Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as its President for the 2025-2026 term. The incoming President, Dr. Russell Berman, will take on this significant role with extensive experience and leadership in surgical oncology.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategic direction and operations of the Society of Surgical Oncology
• Chair the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) Annual Meeting
• Lead the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) in its mission to advance surgical oncology through education, research, and advocacy
• Represent the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) at national and international conferences
• Collaborate with other medical societies and organizations to promote the field of surgical oncology

Requirements

• Extensive experience in surgical oncology
• Leadership experience in medical societies or similar organizations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a complex organization and lead a team

Qualifications

• MD degree
• Board certification in surgery
• Experience in surgical oncology
• Leadership experience in medical societies or similar organizations
