About the role
CNC Machine Operator Position Overview: Sets up and operates machines to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal according to blueprint or sketch specifications.
Responsibilities
- Selects, positions, and aligns dies or tools in machine ram and bed.
- Retrieves and replenishes necessary materials and parts to ensure organized production.
- Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.
- Positions workpiece to align layout marks or to backstop.
- Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal.
- Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.
- Verifies dimensions of workpiece.
Requirements
High school education preferred. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups. Must have the ability to work as part of a team and independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaches with hands and arms.
- Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Must have close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
