About the role

We are a full-service commercial real estate firm serving Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston with over 33 years of experience developing, managing, and investing in commercial real estate. The Roving Building Technician is an essential role at HPI, responsible for the operation and maintenance of multiple buildings' equipment and timely responses to service requests.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and respond to service requests by diagnosing and performing minor and routine maintenance/repair in a timely and professional manner.
  • Strive to complete all service requests daily and accurately documented, including parts, in work order system.
  • Drive to multiple sites for service requests (company vehicle will be provided).
  • Ensure the performance of equipment with preventive maintenance as prescribed by manufacturer's recommendations and specifications.
  • Maintain the professional appearance of equipment and maintenance spaces.
  • Review building operations, preventive maintenance, training, energy management, and equipment status on a frequent basis.
  • Maintain the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Perform other duties such as repairing locks, doors, hinges, and other miscellaneous items, repairing and painting surfaces, and conducting monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and life/safety inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records within preventative maintenance system and complete or oversee the completion of preventative maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, meeting minimum state of Texas requirement.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and analytical skills, and ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.

Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, blueprints, schematics, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
