Roving Apartment Maintenance Technician (Topeka, KS)

About the role

Westport Properties is seeking a Roving Maintenance Technician to join their expanding team. Ideal candidates possess strong problem-solving skills and a background in areas such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, or landscaping.

Responsibilities

  • Travel between properties to handle maintenance and repairs
  • Tackle tasks including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, doors, flooring, landscaping, and more
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and Property Manager to ensure smooth operations
  • Prep units for new residents and perform regular upkeep
  • Occasionally on-call for emergency repairs
  • Keep maintenance logs and assist with snow removal during winter months

Requirements

  • General maintenance skills: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, flooring, painting, appliance repair
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Computer knowledge (typing, spelling, tablet use for work orders and communication)
  • EPA certification preferred or willing to obtain (exam fee reimbursement available)
  • HVAC certification preferred or willing to obtain
  • Able to lift, shovel, and/or plow snow, and navigate multiple properties

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in residential or commercial maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Benefits

  • Pay: $20 - $30/hour based on experience
  • Monthly bonuses based on occupancy: Up to ~$450 (typically $200-$300)
  • Tool reimbursement: $10 per paycheck ($260/year)
