The How
- Expert at climbing movement and creating meaningful movement experiences through routesetting
- Creative, self-driven, and motivated to push what’s possible in the setting industry
- Model communication standards for the team, regularly providing and soliciting clear and direct feedback
- Lead and top rope routes in accordance with Mesa Rim protocols
- Mentor fellow Setters and set engaging boulders
- Lead by example and maintain high standards for clean and organized work spaces
- Support team in managing time effectively, providing guidance for the team’s workflow and setting practices
- Demonstrate strong self-objectivity and desire to grow, regularly soliciting and processing feedback from Team
- Lead by example and support the team in communicating clearly with one another
- Serve as a Mesa Rim cultural example, consistently demonstrating and holding others accountable to Mesa Rim Core Values
- Serve as Mesa Rim representative, engaging with the community about climbing and routes as needed
Required
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Contribute to Mesa Rim Climbing Center culture
- Seek and accept, as well as give, critical feedback in a professional manner
- Positive attitude and be a team player
- Drive to grow professionally
- Understand and demonstrate climbing movement up to 5.13 and v7
- Forerun lead routes, top rope routes, and boulder problems
- At least three years setting experience in rope climbing gym
- Understand and follow Mesa Rim Work at Height policies
- Boulder and Sport competition setting experience
Nice-to-Haves
- USAC certification
- Previous leadership experience
- Ability to demonstrate climbing movement up to 5.14 and v10
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, vibration from power drills, airborne particles, dry conditions (non-weather)
- Risk of moving mechanical parts, mechanical burn, and bodily fluid
- Regular exposure to Work at Height with the use of climbing gear, rigging, aerial boom lifts and/or ladders
- Frequent walking up and down stairs, gripping with hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, reaching overhead with arms, walking on hard/soft and even/uneven surfaces, using a computer, talking, yelling, and hearing
- Lifting and/or moving up to 5 pounds, frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
- Regular exposure to risk of falling from height, falling objects, and trip hazards
Pay Range
$23.50-$32.00/hour
