Route Driver Box Truck

CERO Cooperative, Inc., a Boston-based, worker-owned cooperative, is seeking a responsible, professional Driver to join our growing organic waste collection team. This is a local driving opportunity with a consistent morning schedule and the unique chance to become a worker-owner.

Compensation & Schedule

Starting Pay: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a box truck on designated urban routes to collect organic waste.
• Load and unload food waste containers.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections (fluids, tires, safety equipment, etc.).
• Follow assigned routes using a routing app and maintain accurate service logs.
• Maintain a courteous demeanor with customers and adhere to all local, state, and federal driving laws.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 2 years of experience directly related to commercial driving and route service.
• Familiarity with GPS systems, routing apps, and basic truck components for inspections.
• Ability to pass a background check and DOT drug screening.

Qualifications

• Waste management experience is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

• This position requires extensive physical activity, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 100 lbs.
• Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (rain, humidity), vehicle vibration, and refuse odors.
• Work involves proximity to moving mechanical parts; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
