About the Role
Perform professional and technical planning work required for developing, analyzing, and maintaining statistical data utilized for service tracking, forecasting, and reporting. Conduct customized geographic analysis and design in support of the assigned department. Provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to higher-level supervisory or management staff.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Using computer technology, perform quantitative and statistical analysis of route system development and operational performance, including costs, revenues, contractual requirements, and other factors.
- Develop and maintain route schedules, route timetables, and/or employee work schedules utilizing complex computer program software.
- Develop, design, and display geographic data in the form of reports and customized maps for use in the service area.
- Analyze, design, evaluate, implement, and maintain route schedules that are efficient and effective in providing service to the public.
- Keep abreast of contractual union requirements and agreements for scheduling compliance; collaborate with the union and/or appropriate staff to ensure compliance as required.
- Perform data research and analysis, including cost, revenue, and needs projection studies related to the service area.
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
- Provide staff assistance to higher-level supervisory or management staff; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports, documents, briefs, and presentation materials as appropriate.
Supplemental Functions
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the service area.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, geography, planning, geographical information systems (GIS), or a related field.
- Four (4) years of professional route planning and analysis experience utilizing geographical information systems (GIS).
- Experience using ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) GIS software preferred.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.
- Possession of a valid City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from the date of hire.

Office environment; exposure to computer screens.
Physical
Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition for sitting for prolonged periods of time; may be subject to irregular hours and routine community and evening meetings.
