About the role

This position involves planning and carrying out physical education lessons for grades K-6. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships with students and communicate effectively with grade-level teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement PE lesson plans for grades K-6
  • Build positive relationships with students and communicate effectively with grade-level teachers
  • Work in a classroom setting with one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hold at least an Associate's degree, 48 semester hours from an accredited college, or pass the ParaPro assessment
  • Experience as a licensed educator is preferred
  • Experience in PE, STEM, or Fine Arts is preferred
  • Complete an online classroom management training provided by the Teaching & Learning department within the first 30 calendar days of employment

Requirements

  • One year of experience working in a classroom setting
  • One of the following qualifications:
    • An Associate's degree
    • 48 semester hours from an accredited college
    • Pass the ParaPro assessment

Benefits

  • To be eligible to advance to the Rotation Assistant II, the incumbent must complete one year as a Rotation Assistant I and 20 hours of advanced training in P.E., STEM, or Fine Arts provided by the Teaching & Learning department.
  • To be eligible for the Rotation Assistant III, the incumbent must be a current or former licensed teacher.
