About the Role

Responsible for maintenance, engineering, condition monitoring, and managing projects to enhance equipment safety and reliability. This role requires experience with large pumps, steam turbines, and compressors, along with expertise in vibration analysis, predictive maintenance, and guiding teams through failure analysis. The position provides technical support to Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Inspection, Process, Project, and contracting personnel regarding operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability improvement for rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Inspection, Process, and Project personnel regarding selection, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability of rotating equipment.
  • Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and provide technical support for major capital projects.
  • Conduct performance analysis of rotating equipment to identify performance and operating deviations and resolve developing deficiencies.
  • Lead continuous improvement of reliability of rotating equipment through the development and application of effective reliability strategies, such as risk-based maintenance, root cause and bad actor analysis, and spare parts reviews.
  • Partner with vendors to resolve technical problems and develop new solutions.
  • Develop the rotating equipment engineering repair scope for all outages, major, and turnaround maintenance events.
  • Serve as a member of cross-functional teams to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve Maintenance.
  • Identify and assess new technologies related to rotating equipment and auxiliary systems.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
  • Develop and maintain Maintenance improvement/KPIs for critical assets.
  • Assist in or lead root cause failure analysis on critical equipment failures.
  • Perform and document component failure analysis as required.
  • Review project design packages.
  • Lead in the development and monitoring of the preventative maintenance program for rotating equipment.
  • Develop, review, and maintain equipment specifications related to purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance/repairs.
  • Develop and implement alterations and revisions to equipment to improve business performance of the operating units.
  • Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation for the company.
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of identifying and solving unusual problems with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to spend time in the field as required.
  • Ability to use computers and standard software (e.g., Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in the chemical or petrochemical industry required.
  • Experience must be as a plant owner’s employee in a continuous process industry, preferably chemicals or oil refining.
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • System 1 EVO/SAP experience.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, working the 9/80 schedule.
  • May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through various means.
