Role Context
This role sits within the energy sector on a base load natural gas liquefaction and LNG export plant project. The assignment covers FEED, EPC engineering and procurement support, construction, startup, commissioning and plant operations after handover. The Rotating Equipment Engineer will be part of a multi-discipline Project Management Team, working in contractor home offices during FEED and engineering phases, with visits to site during construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering oversight during FEED and EPC detailed engineering to support compliance with project design basis, LNG codes and industry standards.
- Review P&IDs, PFDs, design drawings and specifications for technical accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
- Support the development of engineering specifications and provide quality assurance during procurement of materials, equipment and services.
- Provide technical guidance on rotating equipment selection, qualification, design review, shop testing, installation and commissioning planning.
- Interface with project discipline engineers, designers and contractors to respond to technical queries and support effective project delivery.
- Monitor contractor execution to support safe working practices and adherence to approved designs, specifications and statutory requirements.
- Review commissioning and startup performance data, identifying opportunities to improve plant and equipment performance.
- Support the maintenance of project documentation through the project lifecycle and warranty period after turnover.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Rotating Equipment Engineer within LNG or a similar process plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment design, installation, operation and maintenance, including centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, dry gas seal systems, process pumps and lubrication systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM and ISO.
- Understanding of LNG processing, storage and transportation, including relevant health, safety, maintenance and operational considerations.
- Knowledge of plant maintenance philosophies and practical experience of plant maintenance systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organisational capability and a high level of safety awareness.
- Professional Engineering License in good standing with at least one state (Desirable).
- Knowledge of FERC, USCG, DOT and OSHA regulations (Desirable).
