About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Rolling Stock and Depot Equipment Manager to join our team in Pearl City, Hawaii. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic, supporting maintenance activities and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, supervise, and allocate resources for all maintenance activities within rolling stock and depot equipment sections.
• Provide support and guidance on rolling stock and depot equipment to the Engineering & Maintenance Department and the broader O&M organization.
• Assist in updating maintenance procedures and work instructions to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency.
• Manage and complete operational, equipment failure, safety, and other required reports.
• Support strategic direction, planning, and assessment of asset condition, performance, and obsolescence for passenger vehicles and depot equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, identification, and resolution of system and subsystem issues to support field technicians.
• Schedule and manage routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance, inspections, adjustments, testing, and cleaning in accordance with schematics, operations manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
• Manage log files for troubleshooting and predictive maintenance.
• Ensure effective implementation of first-line response maintenance safety standards.
• Direct and supervise staff in complex maintenance activities.
• Plan and allocate resources to ensure passenger vehicle availability and efficient use of depot equipment and facilities.
• Ensure staff competency and compliance with safety standards and company policies.
• Oversee safety procedures during all maintenance activities for employees and subcontractors.
• Meet Key Performance Indicators as agreed with the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.
• Be available for 24-hour on-call incidents and emergencies within the section.
• Conduct regular health, safety, quality, and environmental management reviews.
• Follow safe working procedures and wear appropriate protective gear.
• Promote and deliver effective teamwork within and across departments.
• Ensure a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
• Submit scheduled reports and documentation as directed.
• Adhere to all departmental, HR, and quality procedures and instructions.
• Ensure quality is embedded in all work in line with established policies and procedures.
• Ensure staff adherence to timekeeping, rostering, and financial procedures.
• Verify goods, services, timesheets, and overtime payments for accuracy.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in rolling stock and depot equipment maintenance, with expert knowledge of car body, train propulsion systems, brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply, electrical equipment, car doors, ventilation, and air-conditioning.
• At least 5 years of supervisory and management experience.
• Experience in maintenance planning, budgeting, procedures, technical specifications, safety, and quality plans.
• Thorough understanding of safety issues related to railway operations and maintenance.
• Professionally qualified, with membership in a recognized engineering institution preferred.
• Valid US driving license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficiency in English.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate’s experience, skillset, ability level, internal equity, and location.
