About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Release of Information (ROI) Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing medical record requests accurately and efficiently while ensuring the highest level of patient confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have experience handling medical records, a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Process and fulfill medical record and Release of Information (ROI) requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify authorizations and ensure all disclosures comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient health information.
  • Review, retrieve, scan, fax, and distribute medical records as requested.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, insurance companies, and other authorized entities regarding record requests.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of all requests and releases.
  • Meet established productivity, quality, and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, patient privacy requirements, and medical records processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment, including scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. This is a fully onsite position in Williamsburg, VA. This is a Contract to Hire position.
