Robotics Vision Engineer
Job Summary & Scope
Automation Intelligence, a Peak Technologies company, Robotics Vision Engineer is responsible for configuring and supporting vision systems integrated with robotic automation for part picking, placing, and inspection. This role involves on-site work at customer locations and includes installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of vision-guided robotic systems. The engineer works with a variety of camera technologies and robotic platforms and must be comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Travel and shift work are required.
Key Accountabilities
- Configure and support vision-guided robotic systems for part handling and inspection applications.
- Work directly with Keyence, Photoneo, and Matrox camera systems to set up and maintain machine vision capabilities.
- Integrate vision systems with Fanuc robotic platforms, ensuring accurate calibration and reliable performance.
- Support installation, testing, and validation of systems at customer sites.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to vision hardware, software, and robotic integration.
- Collaborate with team members and customers to ensure successful system deployment and operation.
- Maintain a professional presence and communication with customers during on-site support.
- Comply with shift schedules and travel requirements to support operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within area of expertise.
Education + Experience + Key Traits
- Experience with vision-guided robotic applications, including part picking, placement, and inspection.
- Proficiency in working with Fanuc robots and associated vision integration.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively with engineering and customer teams.
- Strong communication skills and professional customer engagement.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to customer sites.
- Availability for shift-based work.
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Mechatronics Engineering (preferred).
- AIA (Automated Imaging Association) certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of Fusion 360 for mechanical modeling or layout (preferred).
- Familiarity with PLC controls and automation system integration (preferred).
- Experienced with bodyshop robotic processes.
- GRS certified.
