In RDPI, we have the unique role and privilege of deploying leading edge industrial robotics and customer fulfillment technologies across North America Stores operations. We raise the bar on the speed, quality and cost of deploying industrial technologies at scale across North America, functioning as the field team who plan, execute and launch the technologies that our internal design and product strategy partners in RDPI develop. Project durations vary from a few days to several months, with travel across North America. This is a travel-based role and you will be expected to travel to meet the requirements of your projects across North America, upwards of 75% or more.

Responsibilities

  • You will support and guide installation of robotics, packaging and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers
  • You will develop detailed knowledge of the operation of robotic systems and guide installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of these systems both on site and remotely
  • You will manage technical ambiguity around integration of work cells in fulfillment centers
  • You will collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers including site maintenance and operations teams
  • You will travel to project sites and collaborate both virtually and in person to ensure all business stakeholders are aligned on program status
  • You will manage day to day project scheduling and budget management
  • You will work on continuous improvement activities to improve the projects in your space
  • You will generate and implement continuous improvement ideas around work-scopes
  • You will lead teams of other engineers on projects
  • You will travel to both live warehouses and new construction sites, the scopes may vary significantly in length and include heavy travel
  • You will travel to project sites across North America, upwards of 75% or more

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Experience working in or around a construction, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environment
  • 1+ years' experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical)
  • 1+ years' Experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems
  • Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to review data to set troubleshoot priorities on highly complex technical systems
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role
  • Ability to travel domestically 75% or more of the year
