About the role
Rex.zone is hiring a Robotics Engineer to design, integrate, and validate robot systems used in real‑world automation workflows. The role spans perception, localization/SLAM, motion planning, controls, and robot software integration, with a focus on improving reliability, safety, and performance. Development is simulation‑first, includes regression testing, and involves hardware‑in‑the‑loop validation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robot software modules using ROS/ROS2 nodes, services, and actions.
- Implement and tune perception pipelines (camera/LiDAR), tracking, and sensor fusion for robust state estimation.
- Design motion planning and control loops (trajectory generation, path planning, PID/MPC tuning) for safe navigation.
- Build SLAM and localization components; improve map quality, loop‑closure stability, and drift performance.
- Create simulation scenarios and regression suites (Gazebo or equivalent) to validate autonomy changes before deployment.
- Conduct hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, log analysis, and root‑cause investigations for field issues.
- Define and enforce engineering QA: coding standards, reviews, unit/integration tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, and product teams on system integration.
- Document architecture, interfaces, calibration procedures, and operational runbooks.
Required Qualifications
- Mid‑senior experience delivering robotics/autonomy features to production or deployed prototypes.
- Strong C++ and Python skills on Linux.
- Hands‑on ROS/ROS2 experience (TF frames, message design, RViz/rosbag debugging).
- Fundamentals in kinematics, dynamics, controls, and motion planning.
- Experience with perception/state estimation (sensor fusion, SLAM, EKF/UKF, visual‑inertial methods).
- Comfort with Git workflows and automated testing in CI environments.
Pay
Hourly range: $30–$50 (USD), based on experience and scope.
