About the role

The Robotics Deployment Engineer is a customer-facing role that requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical- and software-based diagnostic tools and excellent communication skills. The role involves leading onsite deployment operations and serving as an onsite presence from the start of deployment until the system is operating in production. This role requires extensive travel – between 75 – 100%. The Robotics Deployment Engineer is a remote role, but the employee must be based in Boston, MA, Louisville, KY, Detroit, MI, Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, or Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for successful configuration of our autonomous robots at customer sites, from robot mapping and navigation to fleet traffic management, to customer training.
  • Design and conduct thorough test plans for customer-specific use-cases.
  • Perform on-site hardware, software, and networking set-up of autonomous robots and systems.
  • Refined customer/site workflows and ensure our systems fit into all customer operational processes.
  • Work closely with the customer operations team and technical leads to coordinate deployment solutions, manage customer relationships and priority issues.
  • Develop an understanding of a customer's existing operations and workflows and complete a site configuration for our automated solution.
  • Serve as an on-site customer resource.
  • Collect data to assess system performance and ensure all system performance expectations are achieved; log all site issues found onsite into the tracking system for teams in engineering, deployment, and support.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and training with the customer.
  • Create documentation for internal teams to support a customer’s system after go-live.
  • Travel extensively, between 75% and 100%.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering, preferably in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering; a degree in Supply Chain Management or other technical degrees considered.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with mechanical and software based diagnostic tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience with using metrics and data analysis to support or drive the right or most beneficial process improvements.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines and high-energy culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate project information to all stakeholder levels.
  • Prior technical automation/robotics experience preferred.
  • Experience writing or debugging code.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more and prolonged periods of standing or walking if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license.
