Roadway, Traffic Signals, And Lighting Technician

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Aid in the installation of traffic signal systems (signal heads, cabinets, poles, detection systems)
• Aid in the installation of roadway and highway lighting systems
• Aid in the installation of underground conduit systems (PVC, rigid conduit, duct banks)
• Aid in the installation of pull boxes, handholes, and electrical enclosures
• Perform wire pulling, cable placement, and basic terminations under supervision
• Aid with trenching, excavation, backfilling, and site preparation
• Aid with the support of installing foundations, anchor bolts, and pole erection
• Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and equipment
• Follow layout markings, instructions, and construction drawings
• Aid with testing and troubleshooting of installed systems
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
• Aid with traffic control setup and roadway work zone safety
• Participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings
• Follow direction from Foreman and Electricians to meet production goals

Requirements, Skills, Abilities

• A high school diploma or GED
• 1–3 years of construction experience preferred (electrical or civil a plus)
• A basic understanding of construction tools and equipment
• A willingness to learn roadway electrical systems and installation practices
• A strong work ethic and reliability
• An ability to work effectively in a team environment
• A basic mechanical aptitude
• An ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately
• Good communication skills
• An attention to detail
• A strong safety awareness and willingness to follow procedures
• The ability to learn new skills quickly
