Roadway Design Engineer

About the role
We have an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated Roadway Design Engineer in our Raleigh, NC office. This position offers the chance to work on impactful transportation projects alongside experienced professionals, with future potential for growth and advancement.
Responsibilities
- Perform roadway design from feasibility studies through final design
- Develop plans, specifications, and estimates for a wide range of transportation improvement projects
- Produce roadway alignments, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and 3D models
- Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and design reports
- Develop and review plan sets and associated design documents
- Utilize MicroStation and Geopak / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for design, modeling, and plans production
- Participate in design meetings and coordinate with project team members
- Serve as roadway task or project lead, as needed
- Grow technical and leadership skills with the opportunity to advance into a Project Manager role
- Other duties as assigned
A valid driver’s license and some travel are required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 4 years of relevant roadway design experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- North Carolina PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
Preferred Qualifications
- MicroStation and Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) experience
- Experience with technical aspects of Roadway Design
- Experience with NCDOT policies and procedures
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project)
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
