Roadside Assistance Driver - Battery (60049)

About the Role

As a Battery Service Tech, you will support and promote the goals of the battery program while providing safe, best-in-class roadside service solutions for AAA members. You will ensure positive member experiences in a Battery Service Vehicle, respond to service requests within given ETAs, and achieve club performance standards for go rates and membership satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Respond to member requests for service, including jump starts, flat tire replacement, vehicle entries, and other roadside assistance.
• Accept calls and provide ETAs to members or dispatch; clarify location and vehicle issues when necessary.
• Assess scene safety upon arrival and ensure the vehicle is in a secure location for service.
• Communicate effectively with members, addressing their emotional state and explaining all aspects of the battery program, including testing, benefits, and battery recommendations.
• Report diagnostic testing results to members, explain necessary repairs, and provide referrals to AAR-approved facilities.
• Maintain minimum performance standards in conversion, testing, and battery installations.
• Perform diagnostic testing on disabled vehicle systems (electrical, battery, starting, charging, ignition, and fuel delivery) and determine the best course of action.
• Test, maintain, and replace batteries as needed, including boosting, terminal maintenance, and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
• Call for towing if required and follow temporarily repaired vehicles to ensure member safety or transport members if the vehicle is towed.
• Maintain the service vehicle, equipment, and inventory to ensure all service calls can be completed safely and efficiently.
• Operate a laptop to record van activity, invoicing, cash/credit receipts, and inventory.
• Inspect and maintain the appearance and mechanical condition of the assigned vehicle, restock batteries, and test new stock.
• Complete required training to certify for operating a Battery Service Vehicle, including annual refreshers.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Post-secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity with electrical troubleshooting preferred.
• Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction.
• Able to obtain and maintain a minimum of one-year DOT card pre-hire and as a current employee.
• Must satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check during pre-hire screening and periodically during employment.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $26.45 per hour. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, shift differentials, and experience. Additional compensation includes:

• Annual bonuses for eligible employees.
• Monthly and/or quarterly incentives for certain roles.
• Shift differentials: $2.75/hour for overnight shifts (10 PM - 6 AM), $1.75/hour for evening shifts (6 PM - 10 PM), and $1/hour for weekend hours. Differentials can be combined.

Schedule

Tuesday - Saturday, 3:30 PM - 12 AM.
