About the role

The Battery Service Tech position at AAA Northeast supports and promotes the battery program. This role ensures safe and best-in-class roadside service solutions for AAA members and maintains positive member experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to member's request for service
  • Accepts calls and responds to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination
  • Locates members and assesses the safety of the scene on arrival
  • Greets members and takes action to deal with their emotional state
  • Shares the importance of testing the battery, reinforcing the benefits of the program, and recommends the appropriate battery type
  • Reports results of all diagnostic testing to the member and provides referrals to AAR-approved facilities
  • Maintains minimum performance standards in conversion, testing, and installs
  • Provides efficient minor mechanical assistance and battery service
  • Performs battery testing on member’s vehicles and performs maintenance on battery terminals
  • Provides battery boost as appropriate; performs proper maintenance on battery terminals; installs appropriate batteries on-the-spot; follows all safety procedures
  • Operates laptop computer to record van activity, invoicing, cash and credit receipts, and inventory
  • Maintains AAA high standard of service and image
  • Maintains service vehicle and equipment in good safe working order
  • Follows temporarily repaired vehicles to ensure member safety or transports members to their destination if the vehicle is to be towed
  • Certifies to operate a Battery Service Vehicle by attending the required training

Requirements

  • High School GED required
  • At least 21 years of age required
  • Post-secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity of electrical troubleshooting is preferred
  • Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction
  • Able to obtain and maintain a minimum of one-year DOT card pre-hire and as a current employee
  • Satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check during pre-hire screening and periodically during employment

Pay

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $26.45 / hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, shift differentials and experience. Annual bonuses are offered to employees and certain roles are eligible to earn additional forms of compensation through monthly and/or quarterly incentives.

Schedule

Sunday-Thursday 3:30pm-12am
