Roadside Assistance Driver - Battery (60169)

About the role

The Battery Service Tech position at AAA Northeast supports and promotes the battery program goals. This role ensures safe and best-in-class roadside service solutions for AAA members and maintains positive member experiences.

Responsibilities

• Responds to member's request for service
• Accepts calls and responds to Dispatch or members with ETA to destination
• Locates members and assesses the safety of the scene on arrival
• Greets members and takes action, as necessary, to deal with their emotional state
• Shares the importance of testing the battery, reinforces the benefits of the program, and recommends the appropriate battery type
• Reports results of all diagnostic testing to the member explaining what additional repairs may be necessary and provides referrals to AAR-approved facilities
• Maintains minimum performance standards in conversion, testing, and installs
• Provides efficient minor mechanical assistance (if trained and equipped) and battery service
• Performs battery testing on member’s vehicles utilizing specialized battery testing equipment
• Maintains AAA high standard of service and image
• Maintains service vehicle and equipment in good safe working order
• Follows temporarily repaired vehicles to ensure member safety or transports members to their destination if the vehicle is to be towed
• Operates laptop computer to record van activity, invoicing, cash and credit receipts, and inventory
• Inspects and maintains the appearance and general mechanical condition of the assigned vehicle
• Certifies to operate a Battery Service Vehicle by attending the required training prior and refreshers annually

Requirements

• High School GED required
• At least 21 years of age required
• Post-secondary training in automotive mechanics and familiarity of electrical troubleshooting is preferred
• Active and valid driver’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction
• Able to obtain and maintain a minimum of one-year DOT card pre-hire and as a current employee
• Satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check during pre-hire screening and periodically during employment

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $24.20 / hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, shift differentials and experience. Annual bonuses are offered to employees and certain roles are eligible to earn additional forms of compensation through monthly and/or quarterly incentives.
