ROAD-TEMPORARY WORKER

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintenance of transfer stations; compactor sites and waste containers.
• Routine servicing and preventative maintenance of assigned equipment.
• Assist in chip sealing operations; mowing of right-of-way; Vector and Weed Management Operations.
• Assistance in cattle guard and culvert installations and maintenance.
• Maintenance and assistance in shop, welding, tire center, buildings and grounds.
• Aid in the Road Administration office, Purchasing office and Engineering Technician office.

Qualifications

• Typical Qualifications: High school diploma or G.E.D., no experience necessary.
• Experience Substitution: Valid N.M. driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Desirable Qualifications: Ability to obtain a Class “A” Driver’s license.

Supervisory Controls

This position performs under the general supervision of the Road Foreman who may provide assignments and instruction, determine objective, priorities and deadlines, and assist the employee with unusual situations. The employee uses own initiative and judgment to perform work in an independent and timely manner in accordance with precedents and established policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

• This position requires a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc.
• Frequent local travel required in normal course of job performance.
• Strength of arms, hands, legs, and back required in the performance of essential functions.

Work Environment

• Exposure to weather, dust, fumes, electrical currents and machine noises.
• Occasionally exposed to high work places and confined places, volatile materials, toxic materials.
