Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc., a partner of H&K Group, Inc., is looking for a Road Mechanic to repair and maintain diesel and gasoline heavy equipment and trucks in the field. The ideal candidate is energetic, self-motivated, organized, competent, and professional.
About the role
Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks in the field, adhering to OSHA, PA, and DoT regulations, as well as H&K Safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Review job orders and observe/listen to equipment to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.
- Identify parts for repairs or replacement for all systems on equipment/trucks.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices; make adjustments as needed.
- Dismantle equipment/trucks to examine parts for defects or remove defective components.
- Replace defective parts with new or repaired/reproduced parts from various metals.
- Assemble and test-operate machines or test-drive trucks to verify corrections and confirm manufacturer specifications.
- Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
- Perform diagnostics using computers and various equipment.
- Conduct front-end inspections and alignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution or relevant experience/training.
- CDL B license.
- Clean driving record.
- Customer service and teamwork skills.
- General computer knowledge, including Caterpillar software (ET & SIS).
- Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder.
- Ability to fit-test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Related experience and/or training.
- Technical school or college in the heavy equipment field.
- Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
- CDL A license.
- OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, or sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Drive up to two hours.
- Use hands to finger or feel; talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to moving parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Noise level is loud at times.
- Required to work outdoors in all environments.
- Hours regularly exceed 40 hours per week and 8 hours per day.
Pay
$18–$40 per hour, depending on skill level.
