About the role

Mohave County Public Works-Roads Division is seeking a Road Maintenance Worker Senior. The position is based at 700 N. Highway 91, Beaver Dam/Colorado City, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Check grade of road
  • Mix cold mix asphalt
  • Shovel cake
  • Rake chips
  • Crack seal
  • Chip seal
  • Patch
  • Sweep
  • Trim trees
  • Weed
  • Mow
  • Remove debris
  • Install cattle guards
  • Place barricades and cones
  • Flag traffic
  • Operate and service heavy equipment such as: jackhammer, hand tamper, compressors, drills, chain saw, mower, shovel, rake, and weed eater
  • Operate and service heavy equipment such as: backhoe, screening plant, paddle wheel scraper, dozer maintenance blade, chip spreader, tractor trailer, water truck, bituminous distributor, laydown machine, and other related heavy equipment
  • Operate and service light and medium equipment such as: tandem axle truck, front end loaders, rollers, sweepers, single axle truck, tractor/mower, sweeper, rubber tire roller, and other related equipment
  • Oversee, assign, and direct the activities of subordinates

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of three years’ actual operating experience of equipment utilized in the maintenance and/or construction and repair of roads or related fields involving the operation of heavy equipment utilized in the maintenance and repair of roads, streets, and property
  • Ability to lift up to 60-65 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Current CDL and Medical Card
  • The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot extreme and extreme cold temperatures
  • Willingness to accept a position in Beaver Dam/Colorado City, AZ
  • Willingness to accept a starting salary of $22.61/hour

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities in road maintenance and repair methods and materials, operation and servicing of heavy equipment utilized in the maintenance and repair of roads, traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in equipment operation, safety hazards, practices, and procedures related to road construction, maintenance, and repair work, and the operation of heavy equipment, use and care of equipment, tools, and materials used in road maintenance and repair activities, safe and effective operation and servicing of equipment, establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, understand and follow, quickly and accurately, oral and written instructions, perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations, learn safe, effective operation of equipment.

Pay

$22.61 - $27.81/hr

Schedule

Regular full-time schedule of four (4) ten-hour shifts per week. Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm (summer hours)Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm (winter hours)
