About the role
As a Road Logistics Cross Dock Shift Supervisor at Kuehne+Nagel, you will oversee the rapid and efficient transfer of goods from inbound trailers to outbound trailers, ensuring shipments for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Full-Than-Truckload (FTL) forwarding are sorted, handled safely, and dispatched on time to meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily dock operations, including in-bound unloading, sorting, and out-bound loading of freight, ensuring strict "window time" conformance
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team by managing schedules, performance evaluations, and maintaining key performance indicators
- Update and control customer standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Control optimal inventory level on consumables, tools and personal protective equipment
- Ensure all QSHE security warehouse formats are completed
- Report and act upon safety concerns with warehouse and QSHE management and maintain warehouse as clean as possible and create/honor housekeeping program
- Minimize rehandling of freight by prioritizing direct, head, and sector loading techniques to speed up transit
- Enforce OSHA, DOT, and internal safety protocols, ensuring a clean, organized, and secure dock environment
- Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Transport Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments, manage inventory, and generate reports
- Act quickly to resolve issues related to damaged goods (OSD - Over, Short, Damaged), delays, and staffing shortages
- Frequently perform physical work, and assist in loading/unloading during peak times
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is often preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is needed
- 4+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or freight operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel) and familiarity with logistics software (e.g., SAP, WMS, or TMS)
- C-TPAT experience is needed
- Comfortable in traveling to Mexico once every two months and flexible in extending working hours
