About the role
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a passionate and skilled Road Design Engineer to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In this role, you’ll take on meaningful work that directly impacts the safety, efficiency, and quality of our state’s roadways.
Responsibilities
- Develops, refines, and reviews highway construction plans that are critical to improving Wyoming’s transportation system.
- Establishes the dimensions and geometry of roadway cross-sectional elements to determine and refine excavation, embankment, and haul quantities for roadway construction.
- Designs and details other roadway features such as guardrail installations, culverts, storm sewer, drainage structures, utility, and right-of-way impacts using CADD software and other software packages.
- Fulfills project flow charts and follows applicable State, Federal, and Agency design policies and procedures.
- Calculates pay quantities for the materials used to construct roadways and prepares spreadsheets summarizing these quantities.
- Attends periodic workshops to increase skills and knowledge and trains others in new methods and procedures.
- Issues intermediate plan sets and attends inspections with minimal oversight.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Experience in Engineering, preferably within the last 2 years.

Pay
$80,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
