About the Role
The Wound Care Registered Nurse provides advanced wound care in collaboration with members of the care team, assessing wounds and implementing a care plan designed towards optimal wound care outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor wounds.
- Clean and bandage wounds as required.
- Implement the wound/ostomy/continence treatment plan of care.
- Explain procedures, medications, and treatments to patients and authorized family members, adjusting teaching format to ensure understanding.
- Assist medical providers with treatments and procedures as necessary.
- Monitor patients for adverse responses to wound/ostomy/continence treatments.
- Administer medications, recognizing actions, side effects, allergic reactions, and patient responses.
- Accurately and timely document patient findings, conditions, visit details, plan of care, discharge plans, and other pertinent information.
- Communicate with physicians regarding assessment findings, patient conditions, critical laboratory results, and other pertinent details.
- Delegate tasks to other team members to meet patient care needs efficiently and effectively.
- Contribute to discharge planning for timely discharge and continuity of care post-hospitalization for wound/ostomy patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum: Associate of Science from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Minimum: One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse eligible to practice in the state of Indiana.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
